Landmark case that defined the institutional origin of Perseu Counterintelligence
Scenario:
The operation began in a context of severe family vulnerability, involving the court-ordered guardianship of Verane Murad, mother of JL Soares.
The case became the starting point of Perseu Counterintelligence and resulted in one of the largest private counterintelligence operations ever conducted in Brazil, with the direct investigation of at least six members of the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) and professionals in the medical and legal fields under suspicion of conflicts of interest.
During the process, a fabricated protective order was issued against JL Soares, based on false allegations and intended to prevent him from acting in defense of his own mother.
With justice compromised and under extreme personal risk — including real threats of imprisonment and death — Soares independently initiated a civil counterintelligence operation that combined psychological, technological, and legal elements at an unprecedented level in the country.
Perseu’s role:
Using counterintelligence methods adapted from the governmental sphere into the civil domain, JL Soares organized an international network of technical and strategic support, with consultants based in Israel, Russia, and the United States — specialists who remain integrated into Perseu’s structure to this day.
Throughout the operation, advanced techniques of traceability, behavioral analysis, information infiltration, and digital evidence authentication were employed.
One of the most complex elements involved evidence obtained through the hacking of Verane’s cell phone with Pegasus — considered the most powerful and dangerous spyware in the world.
For such evidence to be legally valid, it needed to be reconciled with a scenario of legitimate access.
Upon identifying that an employee of Verane had the device password, Perseu synchronized execution of the hospitalization operation precisely at the moment she would be present in the residence, ensuring that, in the case files, the passwords would be deemed legally obtained rather than captured by digital interception.
On the basis of this evidence, the case lawyers were coordinated and substantiated by Perseu, receiving technical dossiers and forensic material that supported the final guardianship ruling in favor of Verane and the removal of professionals involved in documentary manipulation and unethical conduct.
Outcome and legacy:
Operation Verane became the founding milestone of Perseu Counterintelligence and established the principles that govern the company to this day: strategic precision, operational legality, and neutralization of threats under real risk.
The case demonstrated that even when legal systems are stalled or compromised, civil counterintelligence can restore balance, truth, and protection of life.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of individuals associated with criminal organizations and in the development of protocols now applied in high-complexity corporate and institutional operations.
